Terms of Service

HomeChecker is a subscription service that schedules preventative maintenance check-ups for your home and connects you with independent, vetted local service providers. We coordinate scheduling and record the results as a Home Health Score. HomeChecker is not a contractor, home warranty, or insurance product.

You must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate account information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login and for all activity under your account.

Homeowner memberships begin with a 30-day free trial that does not require a payment method. After the trial, continued access to scheduling and reports requires a paid subscription (Essential, Complete, or Elite) billed monthly through our payment processor, Stripe. You may cancel at any time; cancellation stops future billing but does not refund the current period. Prices and plan features may change with notice.

Providers subscribe separately for guaranteed appointments and may be charged a transaction fee on qualifying repair work referred through the platform, as disclosed at signup.

Service providers are independent contractors, not employees or agents of HomeChecker. We vet providers for licensing, insurance, and reputation, but we do not perform the inspections or repairs ourselves and do not guarantee their work. Any repair work you authorize is a direct agreement between you and the provider.

Home Health Scores and visit reports reflect a provider’s assessment at a point in time and are provided for your information only. They are not a warranty, certification, or guarantee that your home is free of defects. For urgent or safety-related issues, contact a licensed professional or emergency services directly.

You agree to provide accurate home and contact information, to allow reasonable access for scheduled visits, and to use the service lawfully. You are responsible for securing pets and valuables and for the condition of your property during visits.

By providing your phone number you consent to receive service-related SMS messages (such as appointment reminders) and emails. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out of SMS by replying STOP. See our Privacy Policy for details.

The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, HomeChecker is not liable for the acts, omissions, or work of independent providers, or for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the amount you paid to HomeChecker in the twelve months before the claim.

You may cancel at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe create risk. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

We may update these Terms and will post the revised version with a new effective date. Continued use after changes means you accept them. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
